Perhaps not a match for those that revel in masterful defensive performances, Aldosivi and Banfield produced undoubtedly the match of the weekend in their pre-Copa Sudamericana playoff final. El Taladro came from behind twice to eventually claim a valuable away win and take control of the tie.

From kickoff it was clear that the onus of both sides was on attack and after each had shared chances, José Sand poked Aldosivi into a 21st minute lead following good work from Santiago Rosales down the left.

The lead lasted barely a minute after Claudio Villagra caught full-back Gastón Díaz napping to steal in behind him and convert from close range. El Tiburón were not deflated though and recaptured the lead before half time through Pablo Lugüercio.

The visitors remained a constant threat and on the hour mark drew level again. A long range strike deflected perfectly into the path of Nicolás Bianchi Arce and in spite of the protests from Aldosivi for an offside flag that never materialised, the defender made no mistake.

The winner came 20 minutes from time after Villagra escaped down the left and clipped the ball into the centre for Lucas Viatri to expertly loop a header over Pablo Campodónico and into the far corner.

Banfield are now in the driving seat but more goals can be expected when they meet again and Aldosivi will certainly believe they can get a result in the Estadio Florencio Sola.

Aldosivi  2 – 3  Banfield
