Life after Carlos Tevez began for Boca Juniors on Saturday evening and with Ricardo Centurión now wearing the number ten shirt, Guillermo Barros Schelotto’s side earned a deserved win over Estudiantes in Mar del Plata.

The superior side from kick off, Boca led after 13 minutes and Centurión was the instigator. The 24-year-old darted through the centre of the Estudiantes’ defence and Lucas Diarte’s attempted last ditch tackle poked the ball past Boca target Mariano Andújar.

Shortly after and the lead was doubled when Walter Bou crashed home a superb headed goal from Nazareno Solís’ left wing cross.

Estudiantes had few answers and when Elìas Umeres was sent off after half time any hopes of a comeback were ended.

Boca will play San Lorenzo in the same preseason tournament on Tuesday ahead of Saturday’s first superclásico of the year.

Boca Juniors  2 – 0  Estudiantes
