A late goalkeeping error by Gasper Servio inflicted a second defeat for Banfield but allowed Defensa y Justicia to celebrate their first ever win in the top flight. In the clash between two of the newly promoted sides, DyJ led twice only to be pegged back by Matías Almeyda’s side but with five minutes remaining, a lofted cross into the box from Marcelo Benítez was fumbled by Servio against the back post and into the net. Earlier in Bahía Blanca, Olimpo defeated Tigre in a game of three penalties, all converted and ending in a 2-1 win for the home side. In Liniers, Vélez made it two wins out of two with a 2-1 win over Arsenal and finally in La Plata, Estudiantes managed to see off Independiente thanks to Ernesto Goñi’s superb free kick.
