While this year’s Copa Argentina has served up plenty of upsets it has also provided a number of heavy defeats for lower league sides and Rosario Central claimed the final spot in the last 32 with a 6-0 win over Federal A club, Juventud Antoniana.
Marco Ruben, who could have played his final game for Central ahead of a move to Brazil, had already gone close with a header when the striker was brought down by goalkeeper Juan Cruz Mulieri. Ruben dispatched the penalty and from that point, Central were in complete control.
Strike partner Fernando Zampedri headed against the post but didn’t need to wait long to get on the scoresheet, bundling in from a corner five minutes before the break.
Germán Herrera tapped in a third before Gonzalo Bettini added a fourth shortly after. Washington Camacho rifled in a fifth and Herrera slid in the sixth four minutes from time.
A wonderful start back at the club for manager Edgardo Bauza and while Central will certainly face stiffer tests, El Canalla are through to face Talleres in the last 32.
