Following Saturday’s departure of Americo Gallego, Independiente have acted quickly to find a replacement and hopefully someone who can revitalise a misfiring side and avoid relegation. Perhaps not the first choice (they were apparently knocked back by Falcioni) the man they have decided upon is Miguel Angel Bransini, the vastly experienced ex-Argentine international, who enjoyed probably his most successful spell as a manager with Independiente back in 1994, winning the clausura in 94, followed by the Supercopa Sudamericana and the Recopa Sudamericana in 1995. Javier Cantero, Independiente President, will be hoping this kind of success can be replicated and fast. Avoiding relegation will surpass any of these previous achievements given their current situation.
