Argentina’s class of 2013 win the U17 championship for the third time

For the third time in history Argentina won the South America under 17 championship despite failing to beat Venezuela in their final game earlier. A 2 – 2 draw was enough to hold on to top spot and although they were level on points with Venezuela and Brasil the superior goal difference granted Argentina the trophy. Brasil’s earlier draw with Paraguay meant Argentina needed only a point and despite falling behind in the 16th minute, a Leonardo Suarez brace gave Argentina the advantage. Venezuela scored a last minute equaliser but the point was enough to claim victory for Argentina. Internet sensation, following his spectacular overhead kick, Sebastian Druissi ended as Argentina’s top scorer but the tournament’s golden boot went to Uruguay’s, Franco Acosta.
