Slightly delayed, but as always here are the decisions of Golazo Argentino for Manager of the Month, Player of the Month and Goal of the Month. Read more and feel free to disagree (in a polite manner)….
MANAGER OF THE MONTH
In spite of losing their main centre forward to injury for the rest of the season, San Lorenzo have maintained a strong title challenge. Juan Antonio Pizzi seems to have continually down-played his sides chances but at the half way point they are just 3 points behind favourites Newell’s.
September proved to be a fruitful month for El Ciclon. No goals conceded and 3 wins from 4 have kept them on the coat tails of Newell’s. Pizzi must take some credit for the hugely organised defence and the vast array of goal scorers that his team possesses.
PLAYER OF THE MONTH
The stand-out performer in the Primera for some time now has been Maxi Rodriguez and so after an exceptional September, thought it was time to honour Newell’s Old Boys main man.
Maxi didn’t play in the one defeat Newell’s experienced in the month but since returning has scored a goal in all 3 victories, including a superb match winner against Racing.
Undoubtedly the star man in what is a fantastic Newell’s side and has fully justified why Alejandro Sabella still calls upon him for the national side.
GOAL OF THE MONTH
As was mentioned earlier, Goal of the Month is going to Maxi Rodriguez for his solo effort to give Newell’s a late win in Avellaneda against Racing.
