Argentina’s attempts to win the Under 17 World Cup got off to an unconvincing start with a 1-1 draw against Iran in Dubai. Iran shocked Argentina’s youngsters with a stunning goal in the opening minute, a dipping long range volley from Mostafa Hoshemi caught Augusto Batalla by surprise. The lead didn’t last too long as River Plate front man, Sebastian Druissi finished firmly when the ball was cut back from the right. Argentina were unable to find a winner and were reduced to 10 men with 10 minutes remaining when Lucio Compagnucci received his second yellow card. With the other game in Group E between Canada and Austria also ending in a draw the group is still wide open but Argentina will need to get a win when they meet Austria on Friday.
