San Lorenzo were unable to leapfrog Newell’s Old Boys in the table but in denying Alfredo Berti’s side a win, El Ciclon remain right on their tail. Last night’s 1-1 draw in Rosario, thanks to Ignacio Piatti cancelling out David Trezeguet’s opener means they remain 2 points behind Newell’s and give Arsenal and Boca the chance to close the gap. Earlier, Estudiantes continued their unbeaten home streak with a 1-1 draw against Rosario Central. Paulo Ferrari’s fortuitous strike gave Central the lead but an Alejandro Donatti own goal ensured Estudiantes avoided defeat. All Boys got back to winning ways with a 2-1 win over Gimnasia in Floresta, ending a 7 game winless run. Goals from Mauro Matos and Agustin Torazza were enough to win the 3 points but All Boys remain in the thick of the relegation battle. Quilmes managed to improve their relegation standings with a 1-0 win in Bahia Blanca against Olimpo. Facundo Diz’s header lifts Quilmes slightly and plunges Olimpo to the root of the relegation table. SEE THE ALL GOALS….
