Gino Peruzzi eventually signed for Catania after Sunderland move fell through

Boca Juniors are reportedly keen to bring Gino Peruzzi back to Argentina following his summer move to Catania from Velez Sarsfield. The 21-year old right back has suffered with injuries and seen first team chances limited and so in a World Cup year, Peruzzi is said to be keen on the move.

Needless to say, Peruzzi would present a sizeable coup for Boca since he proved himself as Velez to be one of the league’s top right backs and famously did an outstanding job of marking Neymar in a Libertadores clash back in 2012.

It was these performances that led to Peruzzi being handed Argentina call-ups and caused European clubs to take note. Sunderland came close to sealing a deal only for it collapse over fears for Peruzzi’s medical and instead Catania pounced and snapped up the youngster for around $3.5 million.

This value could pose a problem and so it is most likely that Boca will look to tie up a loan deal.

Former club, Velez Sarsfield would not be too happy to see Peruzzi back in Argentina only 6 months later and playing for rivals, Boca and if the chance presents itself will surely rival Bianchi’s side.

A player of Peruzzi’s quality, if back on the market, will be very desirable for a number of clubs both in Argentina and in Europe.
