Argentina’s fairly unimpressive week in the Copa Libertadores continued last night as Newell’s Old Boys fell 1-0 in Colombia to Atletico Nacional and Lanus were unable to break down Chilean side, O’Higgins in La Fortaleza. Newell’s were certainly not at their best in Medellin and will feel aggrieved at Maxi Rodriguez having a goal disallowed for offside but in the end it was Edwin Cardona’s long range strike that decided the match. Earlier, Lanus came up against a determined O’Higgins and probably didn’t do enough to warrant the win. The goalless draw is certainly less than expected but Lanus would still expect to qualify from Group 3. WATCH THE ACTION HERE….
Lanus 0 – 0 O’Higgins
Atletico Nacional 1 – 0 Newell’s Old Boys
