Sunday’s action threw up some surprising results and some interesting talking points, none more so than Colón‘s 3-1 win over River Plate. Despite Ramon Diaz’s side bossing possession it was a horribly disjointed performance which was taken advantage of by a rejuvenated Colón side. Boca Juniors welcomed Juan Roman Riquelme back into the squad for their match against league leaders, Estudiantes and his presence reaped immediate rewards. Emmanuel Gigliotti’s first half header was enough to give Carlos Bianchi’s Boca their first win of the campaign. San Lorenzo won their third straight match, a feat they failed to do in the Inicial despite being crowned champions, as they edged Quilmes 1-0 thanks to Ignacio Piatti’s header. Another assist for Angel Correa and another clean sheet at home are ominous signs for the rest of the Primera. Earlier in the day, Newell’s Old Boys finally ended their winless streak and their problems in front of goal as they hammered Atletico Rafaela 4-1 in Rosario. WATCH ALL THE GOALS HERE….
