After Godoy Cruz‘s limp performance in their opener day defeat to Argentinos Juniors few would have predicted the turnaround in their fortunes. Last night in Mendoza, Gonzalo Castellani’s hat trick helped his side to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Rosario Central, sending Godoy Cruz to the top of the table and easing relegation fears. All three of Castellani’s goals came from outside the box with the second being the pick of the bunch. Later, Belgrano came from two goals down to draw with Gimnasia in another entertaining match in this year’s Torneo Final. Erik Correa headed Gimnasia in front with less than a minute played and when Lucas Licht converted a penalty five minutes before the break it appeared Belgrano would be tasting defeat for the first time this season. However, Luciano Lollo reduced the deficit to set up a superb second half which could have gone either way. Eventually Jorge Velázquez forced the equaliser and although both sides still had chances, neither could force a winner. Earlier in Victoria, Tigre and Argentinos Juniors played out a fairly uneventful 0-0 draw. The result leaves Argentinos propping up the relegation table but had Ariel Nahuelpán taking one of the more presentable opportunities it could have been worse. WATCH THE GOALS HERE….
