League leaders, Colón and second placed, Vélez Sarsfield were both on the wrong end of 1-0 defeats yesterday evening as the title race took yet another twist and could potentially see River Plate sitting at the top of the pile at the end of Round 12. Colón travelled to Lanús, who could have been excused for having their forthcoming Copa Libertadores match on their minds, but Guillermo Barros Schelotto’s side earned the win thanks to Víctor Ayala 2nd minute free kick. It was a deserved win that takes Lanús up to fifth and two points off the top ahead of their clash in Chile against O’Higgins on Tuesday. Later in Liniers, Vélez were undone by a injury time Luciano Vietto goal that gave Racing a surprise away win. Racing set up to defend and frustrate their hosts and it appeared as though a goalless draw would be their reward but with seconds remaining, Vietto found a pocket of space after Luciano Aued’s wonderful assist and expertly clipped the ball over Sebastián Sosa. WATCH THE GOALS HERE….

Lanús  1 – 0  Colón

Vélez Sarsfield  0 – 1  Racing Club
