Alejandro Sabella used Friday’s training session to try out a 5-3-2 formation which he actually used to defeat Sunday’s opponents, Bosnia & Herzegovina back in November. The switch meant that there was no place for Gonzalo Higuaín, Ezequiel Lavezzi or Fernando Gago while Hugo Campagnaro slotted into the defence and Maxi Rodríguez replaced Gago.
Back when the two sides met in a friendly game in November in St Louis, Argentina were comfortable 2-0 winners thanks to a Kun Agüero brace.
That night the team was Romero; Zabaleta, Basanta, Fede Fernández, Otamendi, Rojo; Maxi Rodríguez, Mascherano, Di Maria; Palacio and Agüero and so Sabella might be tempted to go with a similar lineup on Sunday.
This morning saw a change in the defence with Garay lining up with Campagnaro in place of Basanta and Otamendi, the midfield three remained the same and Lionel Messi partnered Agüero instead of Palacio.
Palacio it should be stated is the only player not currently training as he recovers from his ankle injury but Sabella is keeping us guessing as to what formation he will play on Sunday.
