Atlético Madrid have reportedly made Inter Milan a €31 million offer for striker, Mauro Icardi and Slovenian goalkeeper, Samir Handanovič. Spanish newspaper, AS are reporting that negotiations are ongoing and an initial bid has been rejected by the Italian club.
With the La Liga Champions in the market for a striker following the departure of David Villa and Diego Costa, Diego Simeone’s side have been linked to several names.
Still only 21 years of age, Icardi is an outstanding talent and provided his celebrity status, primarily from his public relationship with Maxi Lopez’s ex-wife, doesn’t hinder his progression the Rosario born youngster could be one of the top strikers in Europe.
After a big money move to Inter Milan last summer, injuries hindered Icardi in the first half of the season but he still went on to score 9 times in his 22 appearances.
Milan would be loathed to lose Icardi if it wasn’t for a very sizeable fee and certainly the mooted €31 million which included, highly regarded goalkeeper Samir Handanovič would not be enough.
Atlético have other targets such as, Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku or Manchester City’s Alvaro Negredo but perhaps Icardi could fit the bill if a deal can be negotiated.
