Borussia Dortmund are the latest European side to be casting an eye over River Plate youngster, Manuel Lanzini. Reports suggest that scouts from the Bundesliga side have been watching Lanzini and may rival the Turkish interest that has so far been shown. River are understood to be ready to cash in on the 21-year-old and a fee of around €7.5 million is being touted.
Just last week, Turkish side Besiktas were reportedly close to a deal for Lanzini after offering €7 million and even agreed personal terms with the player who is keen to move to Europe this season.
However, Bundesliga runners-up, Dortmund are now set to rival Besiktas for Lanzini’s signature.
Since making his debut for River at 17 in 2010, Lanzini has been linked to a number of top European sides. Wearing the River number 10 shirt, Lanzini has perhaps not lit up the Primera as expected when he first arrived on the scene. However, still only 21 and with a lot of potential, Lanzini could prove to be a very good signing at the right price.
Meanwhile, River’s title winning midfield is likely to have a very different look next season. With Carlos Carbonero already gone and Cristian Ledesma returning to Argentinos Juniors and this possibility of Lanzini too. New boss, Marcelo Gallardo has some rebuilding to do if River are to challenge for back-to-back titles.
