The Guardian is reporting that Ángel di María and German defender, Mats Hummels are top of Louis van Gaal’s shopping list for Manchester United this window. Injury will deprive the current Dutch coach of seeing Di María up close in the World Cup Semi Final later today but the two might be united if the reported transfer takes place. The double deal could cost United up to £75 million.

To fund such a big money move, United and van Gaal are willing to sell several current squad members, such as Ashley Young, Marouane Fellaini, Nani and Shinji Kagawa.

Real Madrid are reportedly keen to sign Monaco and Colombia playmaker, James Rodríguez and would be willing to listen to offers for Di María to finance this transfer. Bids in the region of £40 million would tempt Real to do business for the 26-year-old who was instrumental in their Champions League triumph last season.

The reports earlier in the week of a bid having been submitted appear a little premature but van Gaal is an admirer of Di María and believes he would fit perfectly into his preferred 4-3-3 system.

Hummels would cost in the region of £30 million but United would need to convince Borussia Dortmund to part with their prize defender.
