Liverpool have turned their attentions to Argentine International, Ezequiel Lavezzi after the collapse of their deal for Loic Remy according to The Daily Express. With Brendan Rodgers on the lookout for attacking options and Paris St Germain in need of cash to finance the potential Angel Di Maria transfer, a £18 million move is being reported.
Lavezzi moved to Paris from Napoli in 2012 for a fee of £25 million but the 29-year-old attacker is one of several players now linked away from the Parc des Princes.
The reason for this is Paris St Germain’s requirement to fall in line with UEFA’s Finacial Fair Play regulations. In order to complete the deal for Real Madrid’s, Angel Di Maria they must off-load some players.
Liverpool were close to finalising a deal for QPR’s Loic Remy only for the deal to collapse over the player’s medical. Lavezzi would be an excellent option for Liverpool but would be a far more expensive option to Remy.
Lavezzi is also not a prolific goal scorer and so would perform a very different function to the departed, Luis Suarez. Pocho’s departure from Paris seems to be nearing but there has also been considerable interest from Serie A so Liverpool may face competition if they are indeed interested.
