Liverpool are still actively looking for attacking reinforcements since the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona and reports in Italy suggest that Inter Milan’s, Mauro Icardi is near the top of that list. Liverpool are supposedly readying a £16 million bid for the 21-year-old striker but Inter officials are said to want £28 million for the Argentine.
Italian sports paper, Corriere dello Sport reports that Liverpool are preparing their opening bid but it is a long way off the valuation that Inter Milan place on youngster.
Last season after his big money move to Milan from Sampdoria, Icardi scored 9 goals in an injury disrupted season but his potential is vast.
At 21, Icardi already has plenty of experience leading the line at one of Europe’s biggest clubs and he has the ability to be one of the best strikers. With pace and trickery but also the strength to play with back to goal, Icardi has all the attributes wanted in a modern centre-forward.
Provided his “private life” (played out all to publically on Twitter) and marriage to former friend’s ex-wife, Wanda Nara, does not distract him there is no reason that Icardi could not fulfil his true potential.
There is no surprise that the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Atletico Madrid were all linked with Icardi earlier in the window but Liverpool will need to adjust their bid of they hope to sign him.
