Manchester United finally set to complete £48 million deal for Di María

Di-Maria

Manchester United are reportedly close to finalising a deal worth in excess of £48 million to bring Ángel Di María to Old Trafford. Sky Sports spanish football expert, Guillem Balague claims that negotiations are advanced and could be completed within 48 hours.

The end of this long running transfer saga looks almost over and sensationally Manchester United look set to break their transfer record and sign Argentina winger, Ángel Di Maria.

There is still some negotiating to take place but it is understood that Real Madrid will accept Manchester United’s offer of over £48 million (€60 million). This is obviously a huge amount of money and would meet Real’s valuation that had been touted to Paris St Germain earlier in the transfer window.

Di María’s agent, Jorge Mendes is flying back from Singapore to complete what would be the most significant transfer in the Premier League this season and a huge statement from Manchester United after their opening day defeat.

Balague also claims that Di María has already spoken with Manchester United and will wear the club’s famous number 7 shirt.

Louis van Gaal has made it very clear that Di María is precisely who he wants in his new look Manchester United and the 26-year-old Argentine is equally excited to play under the esteemed Dutch coach.

Despite not being able to offer Champions League football this season, United will make Di María one of their top earners, alongside Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie. Additionally, Di María will certainly feel valued in a way that he perhaps was not in Madrid. Surrounded by Madrid’s other world class stars, El Fideo did not get the recognition that his performances deserved but in Manchester he will immediately be one of their key players.

With the two clubs seemingly in agreement and further meetings scheduled in the coming days, this deal could be announced early next week.
