Erik Godoy gave Tigre the lead against Racing

Having won their opening two fixtures and starting to look a little like title contenders, Racing travelled to Victoria and were soundly but unexpectantly beaten by Tigre. An early Erik Godoy header set the home side on their way and shortly before half time the lead was doubled after an excellent finish by Kevin Itabel. Seconds into the second half the impressive Lucas Wilchez danced through the Racing defence before curling a superb shot into the corner of Sebastián Saja’s goal and not long after Itabel added his second. A resounding win for Tigre who are not usually a side who score many goals. Earlier in Sarandí, Arsenal managed to see off Olimpo thanks to Brahain Aléman’s first half goal. Two wins at home for Martín Palermo’s side is a decent start considering the upheaval during the close season.

Arsenal de Sarandí  1 – o  Olimpo de Bahía Blanca

Tigre  4 – 0  Racing Club
