Argentine striker, Mauro Icardi laid down an impressive marker in Inter Milan’s second match of the Serie A season with a hat-trick in his sides 7-0 rout of Sassuolo. The 21-year-old will be hoping to force his way into Gerardo Martino’s thinking ahead of the Copa América in 2015.
Mauro Icardi, for all his faults, is an incredible talent. Not many 21-year-olds assume the position of the leading striker at one of Europe’s top clubs, and Icardi it would seem is reveling in this role.
Capable of scoring different types of goals, Icardi scored three against lowly Sassuolo to start the new season in impressive style ahead of Martino naming his first real squad for the friendlies in China next month.
Icardi said after the match, “I’ve never scored a hat-trick, either with Sampdoria or with Inter.
“Today’s the first and it’s fantastic because it came at the San Siro. I dedicate it to my family, who are always by my side.”
