Juventus close in on Boca teenager

Juventus are reportedly close to signing Boca Juniors’ youngster, Tomás Pochettino before the 18-year-old has made his first team debut. After catching the eye of several clubs during the Durban Under 19 International Tournament in South Africa in June, the bianconeri appear to have moved swiftly to secure his signature.

With the 18-year-old not having played for the first team yet, Pochettino is a little of an unknown even to followers of Argentine football but he is set to follow the example of team mate, Tiago Casasola who joined Fulham a month ago.

Pochettino is a right-sided attacking midfielder and joined Boca’s youth system at the age of nine from his native Rafaela. Having represented the side since then and now given the interest from Europe it is perhaps a little surprising that he hasn’t made an appearance for the first team, particularly given their current problems.

Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta as well as sporting director Fabio Paratici are both admirers of Pochettino and it is understood that they are in discussions over an imminent move.

The suggestion from Sky Sports Italia is that Juventus will continue negotiations and should Boca accept the offer, they will send the player on loan to Sassuolo to gain some top-flight European experience.

Hellas Verona and Tottenham were attributed with an interest but the latest is that Pochettino could be a Juventus player very soon.
