Carlos Tevez gave a perfect response to the disappointment of remaining outside of the Argentina squad with a match winning performance to keep Juventus top of Serie A. El Apache scored either side of half time as Juve registered a 3-0 win over Atalanta and in the process leapfrog Roma, who had earlier defeated Hellas Verona. The two leaders meet next Sunday in an early season potential title decider.

For the first Tevez pounced on some sluggish defending to score from close range and the second was perhaps not the best goalkeeping but either way the international exile keeps on scoring.

Tevez leads the way in the goal scoring charts in Serie A with four goals already this season. Gerardo Martino decided against recalling the Juve striker for the forthcoming friendlies but it remains to be seen if this is a permanent decision.
