Following last weekend’s disappointment against River Plate, Independiente provided the perfect riposte in the Estadio Libertadores de América as they dominated Rosario Central en route to a 2-0 win. Federico Mancuello opened the scoring with a superb left footed strike from outside the box, his seventh of the campaign and Jesús Méndez added a second five minutes from time for his first goal for El Rojo. Later, in Bajo Flores, San Lorenzo‘s suffered a slight relapse after two consecutives wins, as they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Gimnasia. Álvaro Fernández’s glancing header put the visitors in charge and with El Ciclón unable to force an equaliser, Pablo Vegetti skipped around Sebastián Torrico in injury time to add a second. Earlier, Atlético Rafaela and Olimpo played out a goalless draw, a result we have seen far less of in this Torneo Transición, and which had either side been more ruthless this would not have been.

Atlético Rafaela  0 – 0  Olimpo de Bahía Blanca

Independiente  2 – 0  Rosario Central

San Lorenzo  0 – 2  Gimnasia
