The Torneo Transición is over half way and it would appear that at least Lanús and Independiente are going to make River Plate work if they are to be crowned bicampeones. Independiente picked up a deserved 2-1 win over Copa Liberadores champions, San Lorenzo in Bajo Flores thanks to a delicate Daniel Montenegro free kick and a Diego Rodríguez penalty. Héctor Villalba managed to pull one back late on and set up a nervy end to the match but in truth El Rojo should have had the game dead and buried. Lanús needed to match Independiente to leapfrog them in the table and early goals from Nicolás Pasquini and Jorge Chamorro were enough to give them a 2-1 win away to Defensa y Justicia. Earlier, Banfield extended their unbeaten run to five matches but they are rapidly becoming the Primera’s draw experts, as their latest efforts, against Estudiantes, ended 1 – 1. Emiliano Terzaghi poked Banfield ahead on the stroke of halftime but Guido Carrillo’s fine header with 10 minutes remaining ensured a share of the points.

Banfield  1 – 1  Estudiantes

San Lorenzo  1 – 2  Independiente

Defensa y Justicia  1 – 2  Lanús
