River Plate may not be playing with the quite the same fluency in recent weeks but they still swept past Belgrano in the Estadio Monumental last night. When it counts, River find the necessary goals and once again Teo Gutiérrez was the main protagonist. Leonel Vangioni had given River a first half lead and when the match was starting to get a little nervy, Teo added a late brace to earn another home win and move four points clear at the top. Racing are up to fourth after their comfortable 2-0 win over Vélez Sarsfield thanks to two first half goals. The first a lucky lob from Ricardo Centurión and the second a fine individual goal from Gustavo Bou to give Racing a fourth win in five. Finally in Mendoza, Boca Juniors won a frantic game of football against Godoy Cruz that went back and forth before Jonathan Calleri stabbed in a late winner. Fernando Gago’s deflected strike had given Boca an early lead but goals from Rolando García and Jaime Ayovi either side of half time put the home side back in charge. However, the leakiest defence in the Primera were always susceptible to attack and an excellent Juan Manuel Martínez goal was quickly followed by Calleri’s winner. Boca are now up to fifth although they remain 8 points off leaders River.

Racing Club  2 – 0  Vélez Sarsfield

River Plate  3 – 0  Belgrano

Godoy Cruz  2 – 3  Boca Juniors
