Boca Juniors made hard work of Paraguayan opposition in the previous round after losing in La Bombonera to Capiatá but against stiffer competition in Cerro Porteño, Boca take a slight lead into next week’s second leg. Emmanuel Gigliotti’s scrappy 83rd minute goal was just enough to edge the first leg but Cerro will be cursing their luck after Rodolfo Gamarra squandered a glorious opportunity for a late equaliser. After rounding Agustín Orion and with the goal gaping, the striker lost his footing and slipped to the turf. The two sides meet again next Thursday for a place in the Semi Final, and a potential clash with River Plate.
