Following Alejandro Sabella’s statement that he is ready to return to management and is looking to Europe for his next career move, reports in Spain suggest that Real Sociedad are interested in the former Argentina coach.
Sociedad’s poor start to the season which sees them currently second from bottom, having one just once this season resulted in the sacking of Jagoba Asarrate last week. For a side that finished last season in seventh it has been an unacceptable start and so the task of replacing Asarrate has begun.
Marca is reporting that both Pepe Mel and former Manchester United boss, David Moyes are in the running but Sabella is believed to have been added to this shortlist.
Last week Sabella received an award from Congress in Buenos Aires and after this ceremony he admitted that he now desires to continue coaching and wishes to move to Europe to do this.
With a coach of Sabella’s calibre available it is little wonder that clubs in Europe would be interested. After leading Estudiantes to the Copa Libertadores he came within a whisker of following this up with a World Cup win as Argentina boss.
This alone would appear to be put him above the likes of Mel and Moyes. Sociedad will be keen to resolve this as soon as possible and so there could be more news on this in the coming days.
