If you recognise the gentleman in the grey shirt you might be able to answer why on earth he was pitchside during Friday night’s controversial clash between Lanús and Arsenal AND why he appears to have a gun. That is the question that no one has yet been able to answer since the images surfaced after the incidents which occurred at full time. Arsenal manager, Martín Palermo, his staff and his players were rightly annoyed with referee, Andrés Merlos after it was during his lengthy stoppages that allowed Lanús to comeback and complete an unlikely victory. Amid all the furore, there is one person unaccounted for and most worryingly he appears to be armed.
The gentleman in question is a Lanús fan judging by his celebrations when Lautaro Acosta fired in the 99th minute winner but no one quite seems to know why he is a) with the coaching staff at pitchside and b) with a gun. The police have admitted that he is not one of their plain clothed officers and Lanús have since also said that he is not one of their own security staff.
So, just who is the man celebrating Lanús’ fortunate victory? If indeed the club do not know who he is, I would suggest tightening the security.
