A different club but the same old story of an internal barra brave conflict resulting in the death of another Argentine football supporter. For the third time this week, a barra brava member has been shot dead.
The latest incident occcured in Ituzaingó before their match against Victoriano Arenas in the Primera D. Two factions of the Ituzaingó barra, San Alberto and Aquino clashed and shot were fired from a car prior to kickoff outside the stadium.
With the officials and the players already on the pitch, the violence then spread to the stands and when police needed to use rubber bullets and tear gas to try and disperse the crowds. This led to the pitch being cleared and the match postponed.
With the deaths earlier in the week in similar circumstances between Almirante Brown barras and the shootout between San Telmo and Dock Sud barras this has been an awful week for Argentine football.
There is still no comment from the AFA on this escalating issue but with the clubs seemingly unwilling or unable to tackle this, a more unified solution is required.
