Atlético Rafaela’s season appears to be trailing off as they slumped to defeat in Florencio Varela to give Defensa y Justicia only their second home win of the campaign. A dull first half passed without much incident but just five minutes after the break some atrocious defending allowed Ciro Rius to poke in from close range. Twenty minutes later the lead was doubled by Nicolás Bertocchi and although La Crema pulled one back via a Guillermo Fernández penalty, Defensa held on for a well deserved win. Later in Rosario, Central failed to breakdown Vélez Sarsfield ending in a fairly low quality goalless draw, extending Central’s record of recording just one win in their last nine matches, importantly in the clásico.
