Boca Juniors face a fight to keep highly rated, 18-year-old Leonardo Suárez with his current deal due to expire in June. With no sign of an extension being signed just yet, Valencia and Villarreal lurk in the background and hope to snatch the Argentina under-20 star away for as little as €2 million.

Being Argentina and standing at just five foot 3 inches, Suárez immediately draws comparisons to the countries most successful of young exports, Lionel Messi but the similarities do not end there. Left footed with a low centre of gravity and a quick burst of pace, Suárez has performed impressively for the Argentina under 17s and under 20s in this familiar number 10 role.

In 2013, Argentina under 17s lifted the South American Championship and Suárez made a name for himself scoring this decisive goal in the final match against Venezuela.

The gifted attacking midfielder made his Boca debut last weekend in the 1-1 draw with Arsenal as Rodolfo Arruabarrena looked to rest some of his more established players ahead of the Superclásico.

However, in spite of playing less than 90 minutes of football with Boca, who he is been at since the age of six, Suárez might just be the next youngster to make the move to Europe.

Former Argentina defender, Roberto Ayala in his role at Valencia has already had discussions over the possible transfer of Suárez and the spanish press have already reported this interest and the plans to send the player out on loan to develop.

It is understood that Villarreal will rival Los Che for the youngster but Clarín quoted a source within Boca that suggested they still hope to hold on to their youth product: “There are two offers. Valencia and Villarreal. But our intention is to renew the deal and we are optimistic about that.”
