After relegation and financial ruin, simply being back in the Primera División is a cause for celebration for Temperley but last night they went one better by defeating Banfield in the Estadio Florencio Solá. The match appeared to be heading for a lacklustre goalless draw but in the first minute of stoppage time, Juan Dinenno’s freekick crept past Enrique Bologna to give the visitors a famous victory. Having played the majority of the match with ten men, after Gastón Aguirre’s first half red card it is all the more impressive but all the more worrying for Matías Almeyda and Banfield.
Later in Misiones, Crucero del Norte played their first ever top flight match. The lush grass of the Estadio Comandante Andrés Guacurarí is something of a leveller for the Primera sides not used to such conditions but that is not to take anything away from Crucero del Norte’s debut. Tigre will be relieved to have left Garupá with a point after Diego Torres missed a first half penalty and on reflection a few more teams might be in for a surprise when they visit Misiones.
