Racing may not be enjoying the start to the Torneo 2015 they would have liked but so far the Copa Libertadores is proving to be an absolute breeze. La Academia once again swept aside their Group Eight opposition and Gustavo Bou hit his second consecutive hat-trick to have six goals to his name already.
The Gustavo Bou of River Plate and various failed loans is well and truly gone and Racing Club are reaping the benefits as the confidence coursing through the striker is abundantly clear. Following last weeks spectacular hat-trick, the 25-year-old repeated the act in Avellaneda to defeat Paraguayan side, Guaraní.
Against Deportivo Táchira no goalkeeper could have stopped Bou’s strikes but his opener last night owed a lot to the inability of Alfredo Aguilar. Not one of Bou’s most well-struck shots the ball bobbled beneath the goalkeepers body and despite his attempts to claw it back, it dribbled into the goal.
Just after half time, Bou’s accomplice, Diego Milito tapped in the second and although Guaraní pulled one back when Federico Santander finished off a good team move, Bou ensured that it was Racing in pole position.
Milito squared the ball to Bou for a simple third and just before he was due to be substituted he completed his hat-trick.
With the group’s other match ending in a draw, Racing already hold a commanding lead in Group Eight and look set for a very straight forward route to the knockout stages.
