All the talk in the build-up to Thursday night’s Copa Libertadores match had been surrounding the future of Boca’s new loan signing, Daniel Osvaldo just weeks after completing his “dream” move to La Bombonera. Manager, Rodolfo Arruabarrena is reportedly furious with the episode at the team hotel but went ahead with his plan to hand Osvaldo his debut and will be mightily relieved to finally see the highest-paid player in the squad making the headlines for the right reasons. The Southampton owned striker headed in what turned out to be the winning goal just minutes before half time after Montevideo Wanderers had stunned La Bombonera with a shock equaliser straight from kickoff after Juan Cruz Komar’s opener.

Boca Juniors  2 – 1  Montevideo Wanderers
