Boca Juniors striker, Jonathan Calleri has made an oustanding start to 2015 and rumours are now surfacing of offers coming in the for 21-year-old from Arsenal, who were linked with him six months ago, in addition to Valencia, Villarreal and Inter Milan.
In spite of a heavy summer of recruitment in La Bombonera, Calleri appears to have cemented himself as Rodolfo Arruabarrena’s first-choice centre forward and the former All Boys striker has rewarded his show of faith. A spectacular lob against Temperley was followed with the winner at the weekend against Olimpo as Boca find themselves top of the table with three wins out of three.
After impressing for All Boys, despite their relegation at the end of the 2014 season, Carlos Bianchi and Boca swooped for the youngster and brought him to La Bombonera for around $300,000.
Bianchi struggled to find a system for his new signings and it was not until the legendary coach was replaced by the younger and more forward thinking Rodolfo Arruabarrena that Boca saw the best of Calleri. Since then he has established himself as a regular in the Boca attack and scored ten goals in his 28 appearances.
Any concrete information on a potential switch to Arsenal or any other European side is scarce and at 21 there is plenty of time for such a move, allowing Calleri to continue developing at Boca for now.
