Daniel Osvaldo is never far from the headlines but for once it is not of his own making after his wife, Jimena Barón was assaulted by thieves during a robbery in Buenos Aires on Wednesday night. Osvaldo missed training with Boca Juniors on Thursday after the incident as his loan spell takes another dramatic turn.
Barón was visiting friends in Boedo when it is understood thieves threatened her with a gun before assaulting her and stealing the couples Dodge truck. Understandably Osvaldo was allowed to remain with his wife rather than report to training on Wednesday but it concludes a bizarre week of events for the on-loan striker.
Since completing his “dream” move to Boca, Osvaldo was caught up in controversy at the team hotel after some women were smuggled into the building after their victory over Temperley and he then made his debut against Montevideo Wanderers in the Copa Libertadores, where he headed the winning goal.
While Boca will be hoping that the loan deal proves to be a success on the field the Argentine newspapers are already getting their money’s worth out of Osvaldo.
