An away point against the side that reached the Copa Sudamericana final at the end of 2014 is one gained for Estudiantes, who find themselves in a strong position in Group Seven after two rounds. A sloppy pass by Israel Diamonte gifted possession to Pablo Zeballos just before half time and he punished the midfielder emphatically, rifling a shot into the bottom corner. Estudiantes remained more than a match for their hosts and with twenty minutes remaining drew level. Gastón Gil Romero’s superb reverse pass found Leonardo Jara and he lifted the ball effortlessly over the onrushing Franco Armani and into the net. Both sides had chances to take all three points but in the end the draw was probably fair. Estudiantes sit level with Libertad at the top on four points and the two meet each other in the next two matches.
