Friday: Racing ease past Colón and Crucero del Norte bore again in Garupá (VIDEO)

Racing bounced back from their midweek Libertadores defeat with a straight-forward 4-1 victory over Colón in the Cilindro de Avellaneda. It took just seven minutes for Facundo Castillón to fire Racing in front when Jorge Broun failed to parry his bouncing shot from distance and after half an hour the lead was doubled. Lucas Landa’s wayward arm blocked Castillón’s cross from the right and provided Oscar Romero the opportunity to slot in his first Racing goal from the penalty spot. Carlos Núñez made it three after the break, pouncing on some ponderous defending to run clear and skip around Broun and although Raúl Becerra pulled one back for Colón, Washington Camacho restored the three-goal lead. Diego Cocca will be pleased to see his side score four goals without either Diego Milito or Gustavo Bou and although Colón did not provide the most difficult test, Racing will need their squad to step-up if they are to challenge for both the league and the Libertadores.

Earlier in Garupá, Crucero del Norte picked up their second goalless draw as Olimpo failed to find a way past the home side defence and the long grass of Misiones. The wait for a first top flight victory for Crucero goes on and frankly these home matches against the Primera’s smallest clubs is perhaps there only chance.

Crucero del Norte  0 – 0  Olimpo

Racing Club  4 – 1  Colón
