Perhaps after Vélez’s easy opening few fixtures we are beginning to get a glimpse of their true level as they suffered defeat for the second time on Saturday afternoon. A scrappy Cristian Lema own-goal had given Vélez the lead in Liniers but a second half fight back with goals from Fernando Márquez and and defender Sergio Escudero saw Belgrano maintain an unbeaten start to the season away from Cordoba.
Colón’s form shows no signs of improvement as they slumped to a home defeat against Tigre. Marcelo Larrondo’s goal early in the second half was enough to give Gustavo Alfaro’s side a third victory of the season and see them up to seventh in the table.
And finally, Sarmiento were able to see off the challenge of Crucero del Norte in Junín. Despite falling behind to Julio Barraza’s opener, Tobías Figueroa equalised after the break and Gervasio Nuñez converted a stoppage time penalty to give Sarmiento a valuable three points over relegation rivals.
