Banfield’s recent revival continued on Saturday evening as they ran out deserved winners over Huracán. The scoreline may have suggested it was close but in truth, Matías Almeyda’s side were better value than just Nicolás Bertolo’s header indicates. Despite not playing in the Copa Libertadores this week, Huracán were no where near the level they produced during last weekend’s victory over Argentinos Juniors and so Banfield were left to celebrate a third straight victory.
History was made in Garupá as Crucero del Norte claimed a first victory in Argentina’s top flight. Naturally this came in Misiones, where they can take advantage of their surroundings, but the win over relegation rivals, Temperley could be significant. Fabio Vázquez’s scrappy goal midway through the first half gave the bus company a first three points and at least at this early stage lifts them level with Temperley in the descenso table.
Earlier in Bahía Blanca, Olimpo played out a goalless draw with Atlético Rafaela, a result that does little to help either side. Both sides are without a league win in 2015 and perhaps with neither wanting to hand the other that valuable prize the match drifted towards the draw. It has been a very poor start to the season so far and both attacks are struggling to find the net.
