New Estudiantes boss Gabriel Milito was in the stands for last night’s match against league leaders Rosario Central in La Plata and under Nelson Vivas’ temporary leadership, El Pincha nearly picked up a first win in seven. However, Eduardo Coudet’s Central side once again showed the type of resolve that has seen them win the most points from losing positions in the Primera. What was a fairly uneventful match appeared to be heading for a goalless draw before Leonardo Jara stabbed the home side in front with twenty minutes remaining. However, the lead didn’t last long and after his heroics last week in the victory over San Martín, it was Alejandro Donatti’s head that proved decisive. The defender outjumped his marker to powerfully head the ball past Agustín Rossi and claim a point for Central. That point gives them top spot in the league for at least twenty-four hours while Gabi Milito got a good look at what he has undertaken before making his bow in next week’s crunch Copa Libertadores decider.
