Quilmes’ dreadful start to 2015 continued last night as defeat to Unión saw them slide further down the Primera table. That is despite being handed a dream start when Ariel Penel awarded a penalty after just twenty seconds for Alexis Canela being wrestled to the ground. Rubén Ramírez slotted the spot kick into the back of the net but the lead lasted only minutes. The sought-after Enrique Triverio produced an excellent curling shot to equalise and shortly before half time he scored again, although this time in slightly controversial circumstance. Quilmes defender Mariano Uglessich jumped to head clear a long throw catching Triverio with an arm and Penel did not hesitate in pointing to the spot for the second time and sending off Uglessich. Triverio converted the penalty for the lead and with the man advantage after the break the striker was able to complete his hat-trick and ensure victory, Quilmes were later reduced to nine men to compound their misery but Triverio’s goals continue to prove why Unión should have no problems staying in the top flight.
