Wins for Colón and Newell’s bring round ten to a close (VIDEO)

Delayed until Tuesday because of elections in Santa Fe province, Colón and Newell’s Old Boys both bounced back from defeats last week to move up the Primera table.

Colón earned only their second victory of the season over still winless and increasingly awful, Atlético Rafaela and were given a helping hand midway through the first half when Esteban Conde failed to gather a knockdown in the box allowing Cristian García to tap the home side in front. Alexis Niz fired La Crema level with just over fifteen minutes remaining but it was Los Rojinegros that were left to celebrate. Lucas Alario squeezed a winner past Conde after spinning on the edge of the six-yard box and earned a valuable three points.

After being thumped by struggling Arsenal last time out, Newell’s were in need of a win and thanks to goals from Nehuén Paz and Víctor Figueroa, La Lepra ran out winners against Godoy Cruz in Rosario. A superb looping header from defender Paz gave El Tolo Gallego’s side the lead in the first half and shortly after half time a fierce, left-footed shot from Figueroa doubled the lead. The win takes Newell’s up to eighth but it is consistency that still eludes them.

Colón  2 – 1  Atlético Rafaela

Newell’s Old Boys  2 – 0  Godoy Cruz
