Saturday: Unión hit five, Olimpo surprise Huracán and Quilmes hold Godoy Cruz (VIDEO)

Unión provided a fitting illustration of the difference between themselves and another of the newly promoted sides as the strike-force of Lucas Gamba and Enrique Triverio tore Crucero del Norte apart. Perhaps Crucero scoring twice away from Garupá is something that they should be pleased with but they had no answer to the Gamba-Triverio partnership and their shambolic defending meant that both strikers were on the scoresheet inside ten minutes. The visitors tried to make a fist of things even after falling three behind and actually reduced the deficit to one with goals from Ariel Cólzera and Dante Bareyro but late goal, amid two red cards for Crucero, meant Unión ran out 5-2 winners.

Huracán’s problems continued on Saturday afternoon and without the excuse of Copa Libertadores commitments to hide behind, there is little justification for a home defeat to Olimpo. Agustín Torassa gave El Globo a half time lead from the penalty spot but a stirring fight-back in the final fifteen minutes stunned the home side. Nicolás Royón lashed in an equaliser before goals from Jonathan Blanco and Gustavo Klusener gave Olimpo a first league win of the season.

Earlier in Quilmes, Julio César Falcioni’s side produced another limp performance but did just enough to prevent Godoy Cruz leaving with three points. It was the visitors who were the better side but they were unable to find the decisive goal and it ended goalless.

Quilmes  0 – 0  Godoy Cruz

Huracán  1 – 3  Olimpo

Unión  5 – 2  Crucero del Norte
