Humberto Grondona’s under-20 sides began their world cup preparations in less than auspicious circumstances with a 3-1 defeat to Tahiti. Still without River pair Emanuel Mammana and Sebastián Driussi it was still a strong side put out by Grondona with captain Ángel Correa leading the side. Los Pibes appeared to dominate the match but missed several good chances before two late goals gave the home side an impressive victory. Argentina will play one more friendly before travelling to Wellington to kick off the competition against Panama on the 30th.

Argentina eleven: Augusto Batalla; Facundo Monteseirín, Tiago Casasola, Lucas Suárez; Leonardo Rolón, Nicolás Tripichio, Tomás Martínez, Emiliano Buendía; Ángel Correa, Alejandro Gamarra, Giovani Simeone

Tahiti  3 – 1  Argentina
