Arsenal’s appointment of Caruso Lombardi is proof of their plight as there is one reason alone why any team would appoint the excitable 53-year-old. A so-called expert in avoiding relegation, Caruso took over an Arsenal side bottom of the table and without a win. Saturday’s visitors to Sarandí were Unión and although Arsenal remain winless, Caruso enjoyed a spot of luck as Matías Sarulyte snatched an equaliser with the last kick of the game. Fausto Montero’s header looked to have given Unión all three points but Sarulyte rose to head Arsenal level deep into the third minute of stoppage time. A morale boosting point in the circumstances for Arsenal but still a huge amount of work to do.
Later in Rosario, Eduardo Coudet’s side once again managed to come from behind to maintain their unbeaten record in 2015. Oscar Benítez put Lanús in front after 25 minutes but Central refused to give in and perhaps boosted by Guillermo Barros Schelloto and twin brother Gustavo both being sent from the Lanús dugout for protestations they forced an equaliser. Ten minutes remained when Franco Niell was pulled back by Carlos Aruajo when trying to get on the end of a deep cross and Marco Ruben made no mistake from the spot for this tenth of the season. The point meant Central missed the opportunity to go top of the table but they remain undefeated and in good shape ahead of next weekend’s visit to the Monumental.
