It would be an understatement to say it has been a bad couple of weeks for Boca Juniors and following their disqualification from the Copa Libertadores, Los Xeneises could have done with a morale boosting victory over Aldosivi. Even behind closed doors Rodolfo Arruabarrena’s side were expected to sweep aside the newly promoted side but El Tiburón had other plans and punished a well under-par performance from Boca.
Boca could have had the lead within minutes of kickoff but after Andrés Chávez saw his shot stopped it was the visitors who took an early lead when Matías Lequi headed in from a corner. That did not deter the home side who could have equalised on a number of occasions before being awarded a penalty on the half hour mark. However, even from the penalty spot Dani Osvaldo could not find a way past Pablo Campodónico as the on-loan striker sent his effort wide of the post.
After the break, Roger Martínez extended the lead with a powerful shot from outside the box before Boca midfielder Pablo Pérez allowed his frustration to get the better of him and ensure that his side would finish the match with ten men. With minutes remaining, Luis Ángel Vildozo added a third with a measured chip over Agustín Orión and the Marplatenses earned themselves a famous victory.
